The Hotel Orto de'Medici is a 19th century townhouse retaining many original floors and frescoes, and is situated just 300 metres from Florence Cathedral and the Uffizi Gallery. Its 31 guestrooms are decorated in the classical Florentine style with hand painted furniture and parquet flooring. All include minibars, satellite television, direct dial telephones, and safes. Bathrooms come with showers and hair dryers. Some rooms have private balconies and offer views across Florence's medieval rooftops.
Guests are can unwind with refreshments in one of the frescoed lounges or sunbathe on the flowered terrace. Any business users will find conference facilities for up to 36 people onsite. Those wishing to explore the area can book tickets for local attractions via the 24 hour front desk; specialised tours in Italian wine, gastronomy or fashion, are also available. The hotel is located in the centre of medieval Florence, within half a kilometre of several notable attractions, including the Galleria de'Accademia, which houses Michelangelo's David, Florence Cathedral and the Medici Chapels. San Lorenzo Market is also 200 metres away, and offers a wide range of local meats, fish and cheeses. Florence Vespucci Airport is 20 kilometres away and can be reached by car in approximately 25 minutes.

The airport is a short taxi ride from town (costing13 16 EUR) although it is also possible to take the half hourly bus, which transports passengers to Santa Maria Novella Station, in the centre of Florence. Buses service the city centre; tickets can be bought at tobacconists or vending machines. Tickets are sold on a time basis one hour, two hour or 24 hour tickets. Traffic is restricted in the city centre and parking is expensive, so the centre of Florence is best explored on foot. Taxis wait outside Santa Maria Novella Station. From the airport, take the A1 Motorway in the direction of Firenze Centro. Approach the city centre by following signs for 'Viali di Circonvallazione'. Drive along the tree lined avenues that are around the city centre until you reach Piazza della Liberta. Turn on to Via Cavour and drive for three blocks until you reach Piazza San Marco. Turn right on to Via degli Arazzieri, then on to the first street on the right. The hotel is on the right and pay parking is available nearby.
